Fascinating. And I love the connection of Nothing to meditation; that's been true for me, too. Turning off the outside noise and thoughts are so hard - even if I don't feel like I'm striving for Something.

What a great interview. I also spend a lot of time looking for something more, and it's kind of nice to think about nothing being everything. Did that even make sense? ;)

I've never really thought about nothing before. But like you, Jen, I find it hard or scary to meditate. It takes me awhile to just let go and let nothing happen. There is a good lesson in that fear, I think...

Love it - nothing means no-thing. The lack of something tangible. That leaves only what is without form, like thought!
I just confused myself...:)

Amazing how scary nothing can be. For me, meditation is extremely difficult, allowing nothing to happen even for 5 minutes.

It seems, then, that we all must accept the idea of Nothing particularly if we accept the idea of a Higher Power. As Ulrike said, to know happiness you must know sorrow. I can relate to this from personal experience. At the most horribly painful moments of my life I have also felt overwhelming relief. And, during times when my mind is quiet, tons of thoughts pour in to fill the void. All in all, a very thought provoking concept.

Interesting idea. Maybe 2010 could be a year of the void ... just to see what rushes in.
