A Manifesto for Faith

by Jennifer Haupt on July 21, 2009

This blog is my field of dreams: build it and they will come. It’s a shout out to the universe that I’m looking for faith and hoping others will join me in this quest. In fact, I’m not just trying to find my own faith but reclaim FAITH from the religious fanatics and politicians, and give it back to The People. A tall order to be sure.

So how is a blog going to accomplish what prophets and poets, scholars and visionaries, have been trying to do for hundreds of years? I don’t know; I’m just putting it out there and seeing what happens. I’m building my “team” (to continue the baseball analogy), one by one, post by post, to build a repository of thoughts about faith in everyday life. This project is a work in progress, and in the process I’m hoping to bring together people from all over the world to join me in this quest to find faith and put it into action.

This first post is my handshake with the universe: I’m here and I’m willing to build this field of dreams as an act of faith. Even if nobody shows up for days, weeks or months. (Okay, after a few months I may start getting bummed out!) I’m hopeful but not expectant; I have no idea what will happen but I’m willing to keep moving, step by step, post by post, toward… What? I don’t know. But I do know it is toward something. Something more. And isn’t that really what Faith is all about?

In the future, I plan to open up about losing my faith but please bear with me. This process may take a while to unfold!

A very warm handshake back to you!. I’m happy to be the first to respond and to wish you luck and peace in your journey. I look forward to joining you and others along the road. Faith is an interesting thing; first defining what faith itself is and second what it means to you as an individual. Some people spend a lifetime pondering upon this.

Great blog and topic, Jen. Faith is definitely one of those mysteries of the universe that, in my mind, needs constant nurturing among all of life’s ups and downs. I look forward to seeing where you go with this!

A shout to the universe that we are looking for faith! Yes. I love the idea of reclaiming FAITH from religious fanatics and politicians and giving it back to the people. Congrats on beginning this great journey, Jen. I look forward to traveling with you on it.
